i’m running the los angeles marathon again. tenth? eleventh? marathon. fifth los angeles marathon. i’m not sure if i’m going to run it after this, but i figured five was a good number. i also needed a good excuse to come back to los angeles for a weekend. (and the los angeles marathon is offering a loyalty gift to people running their fifth LA marathon… i know i’m a sucker.)
my training has gotten off to a rocky start, and i am blaming the dog and school. both of these are just excuses that i’ll need to overcome. school will be done for the semester in two weeks, and the dog, well i will just need to get him up to speed (no pun intended) or run a short run with him and then leave him in the back yard while i finish the miles.
goal: i would love to set a PR in the la marathon this year. my current PR is 4:41.
training plan: i made myself a training plan that i will have to adjust based on my dog/school concerns. i scheduled a half marathon on 1/14 and will be building up mileage to about 40-45 miles a week in january.
strength training: i will also try to do three body weight workouts every week (legs, arms & abs, full body).
as i said before, my training this week did not go well. and it’s not even too cold/snowy yet, so i should be taking advantage of this weather.
monday: 1 mile (it was cold)
wednesday: 1.1 miles (november project)
friday: 1.6 miles before work (i was going to do 3 miles but vincent started making weird coughing noises), 3.2 miles after work with kelsey (vincent’s first hike)
saturday: 5.6 miles in vail
total miles: 12.8
strength workouts: 0
as i said, low mileage and disappointing week.
