i took a whole week to rest.
i’m not sure if this was the worst or best idea at this point in training (only 41 days until the marathon). i went to the doctor on monday for my it band/knee issues and he gave me prescriptions for physical therapy and cortisone shots. physical therapy is scheduled for thursday and i’m going to wait a few weeks to see if i need the cortisone.
i ran three miles this week (with my half marathon training group, no knee pain). i did a strength workout. i played softball, corn hole, and bingo. over the weekend i drove over 400 miles and played in two kickball tournaments.
the term “rest” is relative i guess. i didn’t sit at home and watch tv (though i wouldn’t mind a couple days of that).
i hope to run at least 12 miles this week and an 18 mile run this weekend. i want to get two 18+ mile runs before tapering down.
